Puggle Privacy Policy

Last updated 2023-08-12

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice.

The term "Your Data" refers to any communication or interaction on Puggle. It also includes your IP address.

IP Addresses are used to improve service quality, e.g., blocking malicious traffic.

Privacy is important to Puggle. The only reason we retain any data on our servers is to protect legal evidence when bad people use Puggle to exploit another person or engage in illegal activity. So, be a good puggler and don't use Puggle for anything illegal. In an ideal world, all Puggle data would live in-memory only for maximum privacy, but we live in a world with bad actors, and everyone needs to do their part in catching them.

We reserve the right to store history of Your Data for at least 180 days to aid law enforcement, should the need arise. Your Data is otherwise not disclosed to any other party for any other purpose.

NOTICE: While this privacy policy states that we may keep chat logs for 180 days, that is not currently implemented. Right now, all text is kept in-memory only, meaning not even the site owners can see it! Chat is not saved to disk anywhere (unless your recipient saves it). Puggle is absolutely anonymous right now. Ideally we want to keep it that way forever, but seeing that other anonymous sites have ongoing lawsuits for misbehaving users, secure chat logs (persisted in encrypted cold storage) are in the future plans, purely for legal compliance.

Local browser storage is used to retain your Anonymous Identity across sessions. This Anonymous Identity is not intended to relate in any way to your personal identity. You can clear any storage by clearing your browser history or by clicking the "Full Reset" button in the Settings tab from the home page.

Your Anonymous Identity is completely random by default and does not use any information from your device to generate it. It is recorded with each message you share. If you type in an Anonymous Identity manually (by updating the password yourself), that information is recorded with each message you share.

Google Analytics keeps a record of basic information and may use cookies. "Enhanced" information gathering is not enabled.
