Welcome to Puggle. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle "Your Data", which includes any communication, interaction, and your IP address, while you use our anonymous chat service.
Data Collection
The term "Your Data" refers to any communication or interaction on Puggle. This includes, but is not limited to, chat messages, session identifiers, and your IP address.
We use IP addresses primarily to improve service quality. for example, by blocking malicious traffic.
In cases where a user is reported for violating our guidelines (e.g. spam, harassment, or inappropriate behavior), we may temporarily store a small portion of recent chat messages. Typically the last 10 to 20 lines to investigate the situation. This may include messages from both the reported and reporting users, along with related metadata such as timestamps and session IDs.
This data is collected and stored solely for moderation and platform safety purposes. It is never used for analytics or personalized content, and it is not shared with third parties except as required by law.
Data Retention
Privacy is important to us. The only reason we retain any data on our servers is to preserve legal evidence in cases where users engage in illegal activity or exploit others. We reserve the right to store the history of Your Data for at least 180 days to aid law enforcement, though currently all chat text is kept in-memory only and not saved to disk.
NOTICE: Although our policy states that chat logs may be kept for 180 days, this functionality is not currently implemented. All text is maintained in-memory, ensuring that even site owners cannot view past messages (unless saved by a recipient). Future plans include secure, encrypted cold storage of chat logs purely for legal compliance.
Moderator Access
When a user reports inappropriate behavior, moderators may access a portion of recent messages surrounding the incident. This temporary access, kept in-memory only, is essential for verifying reports and enforcing site rules.
Moderators also reserve the right to join any room if they suspect malicious activity.
Local Storage & Anonymous Identity
Your Anonymous Identity is maintained via local browser storage across sessions. This identity is randomly generated and does not connect to your personal identity. You can clear this data by clearing your browser history or using the "Full Reset" option in the Settings tab.
If you choose to set your own Anonymous Identity (by updating your password manually), that identifier is recorded with each message you share.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect basic information and may use cookies for this purpose. "Enhanced" information gathering is not enabled.
